A Story of Someone 8/30

It's been so hot in Santa Monica. And I know it's really hard to get sympathy from people about the weather in SoCal. But listen. We're just not equipped to deal with heat. We don't have air conditioning. In fact, we don't even have a freaking screen door, so it's not like we can get some good cross-ventilation action going on. And since I work from home, I can't escape to an air-conditioned office. At any rate...it's been really freaking hot and it's been sucking the life out of me. So thanks for letting me go off on that for a moment.

Today is "cooled off" a little. Which means it's not stifling and the temperatures are going down. But still. It's fn hot. The good news is that didn't stop me from meeting my very good friend Patty at the Brentwood Farmer's market where we walked around, tested 17 varieties of plums, peaches and pluots, and picked up a snack while we caught up on the happenings in each other's lives over the past eight months. I picked up a pupusa and asked to take a photo of the woman who was slaving away behind the grill making these delicious treats. She looked unaffected by the heat, which I can't wrap my head around, as I snapped this photo:

I also have to share this photo of these beautiful roses which stopped me in my tracks:

Crayola Photo Challenge- Royal Purple

It was between the photo below and another one of eggplant. But I opted for this since purple peppers are more unusual than eggplant.

Enjoy!

Crayola Photo Challenge- Jungle Green

Yesterday's trip to the farmer's market was a success as I finally captured a photograph worthy of Jungle Green. This photo was a little tricky to get. I tried trash cans, garbage trucks, Christmas lights, t-shirts, fences...but ultimately landed on this:

What I love about this photo so much is that it has three different colors of green competing for attention. And among them, the jungle green is so perfectly clear!

Crayola Photo Challenge- Forest Green

This was a hard one for me. Only because there's this picture I've taken a few different times at the Farmer's Market hoping it'd fit into this challenge. But the color I wanted to go with ultimately came up short. Check it out for yourself here.

So when I was going through my photograph options and put the color swatch up against the screen, there was actually a clear winner.

A huge thank you to my cousin Susannah for helping me positively identify this fruit, cherimoya. I definitely never would have guessed that!
