A Story of Someone 8/30

It's been so hot in Santa Monica. And I know it's really hard to get sympathy from people about the weather in SoCal. But listen. We're just not equipped to deal with heat. We don't have air conditioning. In fact, we don't even have a freaking screen door, so it's not like we can get some good cross-ventilation action going on. And since I work from home, I can't escape to an air-conditioned office. At any rate...it's been really freaking hot and it's been sucking the life out of me. So thanks for letting me go off on that for a moment.

Today is "cooled off" a little. Which means it's not stifling and the temperatures are going down. But still. It's fn hot. The good news is that didn't stop me from meeting my very good friend Patty at the Brentwood Farmer's market where we walked around, tested 17 varieties of plums, peaches and pluots, and picked up a snack while we caught up on the happenings in each other's lives over the past eight months. I picked up a pupusa and asked to take a photo of the woman who was slaving away behind the grill making these delicious treats. She looked unaffected by the heat, which I can't wrap my head around, as I snapped this photo:

I also have to share this photo of these beautiful roses which stopped me in my tracks:

Check out Cyrena and Sarah's photos (coming soon).
