Operation Beautiful

I was walking through Whole Foods on Friday picking up some baby arugula, parmesan cheese and strawberries (to make the best and easiest salad- just add lemon juice and olive oil and yuuuuum) when something in the pasta aisle caught my eye.

At first I thought it was just another random price special sign or something along those lines. But I literally backed up a few steps and looked closer. And man am I glad I did. Here's what I saw:

Of course I smiled when I saw this. I thought it was such a kind and thoughtful message. And I couldn't wait to get home to look up operationbeautiful.com.

When I went to the website, the first thing I saw was the tagline, "transforming the way you see yourself one post-it note at a time." As I poked around more, I learned that this was started by a young woman who began anonymously putting post-it notes in public places for other women to find. The goal of Operation Beautiful is to end negative self-talk or “Fat Talk." Having battled with the negative self-talk for entirely too long, I found myself really drawn to this project and want to get the word out to as many people as I can.

I plan on putting a package of post-it notes in my bag and making a concerted effort to join the Operation Beautiful movement. Taken directly from the website: "The mission of Operation Beautiful is to post anonymous notes in public places for other women to find. The point is that WE ARE ALL BEAUTIFUL. You are enough... just the way you are!"

It's too bad that many of us do need the reminder that we are beautiful regardless of our size and flaws. But how beautiful that there are complete random strangers out there that want us to know that we're beautiful exactly as we are?

I don't know about you, but I find this awesomely inspiring and can't wait to get started! Operation Beautiful, here I come.
