Knock Knock. Is This Thing On?
Wow it's been a really long time since I've updated this blog. But hopefully all that changes because tomorrow I'm doing something I've never done before — going to Ireland for one month! And I'd like to document what this month away looks like.
Event 360 has a policy where employees can work internationally for up to 30 days and I've just never been able to take advantage of that. Last summer was my first oneworking at Event 360 where I wasn't working on the Susan G. Komen 3-Day. It was a whole new world. The summer was far less frenetic or filled with crazy deadlines and lots of travel. And because so many of my co-workers are in between their event seasons (spring and fall), it was a little bit like a ghost town. So when we were planning our trip back home to Ireland this summer, working around a June 25th wedding we're attending, I knew I had to make this my very first work/vacation trip.
I still have to:
- Finish packing
- Put in a solid day of work
- Do laundry
- Take out the trash
- Get waxed
- Hit the grocery store
- Fit in a gym workout
- Do therapy
Of course, as life tends to do, now that I am on the cusp of this trip, two more work projects have landed in my lap just in the past two days that requires me to rejigger my schedule. I will likely end up working more than I had originally anticipated. But that's okay. That comes with the territory of my (not so) new position at work. And I knew when I got approval for this month away, that I'd have to make concessions if the workload shifted. So that's exactly what I'll do.
Don't worry — I fully intend to take a significant amount of time off to relax, recharge, explore and have a hell of a time. And I hope to take you along on this month-long journey with way more frequent updates here.
