2014 Photography Challenge- A Moment in Time (6:00 a.m.)

After my alarm woke me up at 5:38 a.m., I did very little before I walked out the door; I grabbed my camera bag, threw on a puffy vest and off I went on my bike to take the photo below. I learned a couple of things. First, don't attempt to bike in your pajama bottoms. It's just not a smart idea. Second, Santa Monica is quiet, but not creepy around 6:00 a.m. Other times during this challenge so far, I've been on high alert and sometimes a little nervous while taking my photo. But today was nice and calm and I felt safe.

I had my sights set on taking a photo of the Pacific Coast Highway at 6:00 a.m. because it's such a stark contrast from how busy it normally is. I love the way the sky was starting to brighten, the way the lights in the building and along the bluffs really add to the early morning atmosphere and how the cars are zooming by in both directions.

This was a beautiful start to my day and it was nice that I managed to squeeze in a bit of a bike ride before going back to start work early.
